It all began in the summer of 1996 with a tent set up in the open field on the Riverview Community. This
was the beginning of a wonderful work for the Lord.
Elder Hale, with assistance from Elder Charles, began
the Kingsport Mission of the Church of God in Christ.
From the tent, Elder Hale and
his handful of members began having service in the V.O. Dobbins Auditorium on Sunday mornings and Thursday nights.
While there, the membership increased and the Lord revealed to Elder Hale the place that he wanted them to have.
As fall turned to winter, the auditorium became too cold to have services.
We found a new home in what could be said to be the busiest church in town. The Seventh
Day Adventist had church on Saturday. The Kingsport Mission had services on Sunday Mornings and Wednesday
nights. Another holiness church had service on Sunday afternoon.
While
there, the Lord continued to bless the Mission.
Without any fundraising, the Lord blessed the Mission, in February 1997, to purchase a building for the souls that he was going to send.
Once in the new building the Kingsport Mission became Powerful New Life Church of God in Christ.
In the years since, the church has grown spiritually and God has blessed Powerful New Life’s membership
to increase.
During this time the church has also been able to purchase a van to bring souls
in to hear the gospel.
Continue to pray for us as we endeavor to do the will of the Lord and follow the vision
he has given our Pastor.
